What is a Steel Structure Bridge?

A steel structure bridge is a form of bridge where the upper load-bearing and force-bearing components of the structure are primarily made of steel. Similar to other types of bridges, steel structure bridges serve as elevated pathways spanning rivers, lakes, and other aquatic obstacles. Large-span bridges are often constructed using prestressed concrete or steel structure technology. The structure of a steel structure bridge is composed of the main bridge along its longitudinal direction. The spaces between bridge piers are referred to as spans, with the section spanning the main navigational opening known as the main span, and the spans at the sides are called side spans. The main materials used for steel structure bridges are steel plates, shaped steel, and high-strength materials. Low-alloy steel is commonly used for steel plates, and components are often made of cast steel and high-quality carbon. The main types of steel beams include ribbed plate beams, box beams, truss beams, and composite beams.
